Revelation 13: Beast of the Sea & Beast of the earth

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. — Revelation 13:18

What do the Beast of the Sea and the Beast of the Earth represent? Let’s look at it verse by verse.

The Beast of the Sea

Revelation 13:1-3

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

  • The beast of the sea represents the Rome.

  • According to Revelations 20 the dragon is Satan.

    • Revelations 20:2

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

  • Notice the similarities between the beast of the sea and the beast described in Daniel

    • Daniel 7:2-8

2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

  • The beast here is described similarly to Daniel 7 with ten crowns, much like the ten horns/king’s described in Daniel 7:24:

“And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.”

  • See Daniel 7 for more information on the deadly wound of the fourth beast. This wound which seemed deadly will heal, meaning the beast will be fully functioning again.

  • When the wound is restored, the world will wonder after the beast.

Revelation 13:4-6

4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

  • See Another Gospel for more info on the blasphemies of the Roman Catholic church

  • Fourty two months=3.5 years, a period of time that you’ll see repeated throughout Revelation

Revelation 13:7-10

7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.

10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

  • What happened in AD 70?

    • The Romans laid seige to Jerusalem fulfilling Jesus/Yahshua’s prophecy in

      Matthew 24:1-2:

      • 1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

    • This also began the prophesied time of the gentiles

      • Luke 21:24

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

  • What happened during the Spanish Inquisition?

    • Roman Catholics persecuted Israelites during the Inquisition of both Spain and Portugal, killing them for not converting or exiling them.

  • What led to the Transatlantic Slave Trade?

    • “The papal bull Romanus Pontifex was issued on January 8, 1455 by pope Nicholas V. It granted Portugal the exclusive right to conquer and enslave all inhabitants of Sub-Saharan Africa. Romanus Pontifex not only sanctioned warfare against perceived religious enemies, it also classified as “infidels” those who had not yet been exposed to Catholicism. As such, the bull provided an important religious justification for the transatlantic slave trade. It even suggested that the possibility of conversion to Catholicism might offer a benefit to African captives, thereby transforming the process of enslavement into an act of charity and piety.” (Source: Slaverylawpower.org )

    • “In 1452 Pope Nicholas V issued a papal bull entitled Dum Diversas, which authorized Afonso V of Portugal to conquer “Saracens (Muslims) and pagans” in a disputed territory in Africa and consign them to “perpetual servitude.” It has been argued that this and the subsequent bull (Romanus Pontifex), issued by Nicholas in 1455, gave the Portuguese the rights to acquire slaves along the African coast by force or trade. The edicts are thus seen as having facilitated the Portuguese slave trade from West Africa and as having legitimized the European colonization of the African continent.” (Source: Britannica.com )

The Beast of the Earth

Revelation 13:11-12

11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

  • Horns represent king’s according to Daniel 7:24.

  • These two kings will speak like a lamb. In scripture the lamb describes the Messiah who atoned for our sins.

    • John 1:36

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

    • Acts 8:32

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

    • 1 Peter 1:19

But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

  • So we see that there are two kings, associated with the beast coming up out of the earth, who will be like a lamb but will in fact speak like a dragon, with the dragon being associated with Satan.

  • They will cause people to worship Rome by means of their power.

  • From the photos above, you can see the connection between the US and Rome as well as the current connection between the two countries by way of the current Pope Leo XIV who was born in Chicago.

Revelation 13:13-14

13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

  • This may relate to space rockets (NASA) or war weapons or something else.

Revelation 13:15-18

15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

  • There’s many theories for this, but one to consider is that just as we are created in Yah’s image, the image being referred to is a embodiment of the beast of Rome. In other words, something that will look and act like Rome.

    • Genesis 1:27

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

  • A quick study on marks in the Bible will show you that the mark in the forehead and on the hand is a matter of worship and action. See The Meaning of the Mark for more info.

  • The Pope wears a hat with the words “Vicarius Fili Dei” meaning Vicar of the Son of God.

    • According to Catholicculture.org:

      • VICAR

An ecclesiastic who substitues for another in the exercise of a clerical office and acts in his name and with his authority according to canon law. (Etym. Latin vicarius, a substitute; from vicarus, substituting, acting for; from vicis, change, turn, office.)

    • In other words the words “Vicarius Fili Dei” means a substitute for Christ

    • Roman letters were also associated with numbers. When the letters of the title “Vicarius Fili Dei” are given their corresponding numbers you get the number 666:

C=100 L=50 I=1
